There are many online AI courses available, even in business schools. However, some students prefer a more self-paced or simpler route. If you want to learn more about AI, top universities and tech companies offer free online courses.

AWS Skill Builder

AWS offers more than 100 AI courses, learning resources and freebies. The basic skills of machine learning, generative AI and foundational models can be acquired by learners. The company is committed to providing free AI training to 2,000,000 people by 2025.

It also teaches users how to use Amazon SageMaker, the company's machine learning platform used by many companies, such as AT&T or LG.

Google AI - Google AI for everyone

Google offers a course to anyone interested in AI in the real-world. Google AI For Everyone is an online course offered by edX. It is self-paced and takes four weeks if you devote two to three hours a week. Participants will learn both AI and machine learning principles, as well as real-world applications.

Google covers AI programming and how to teach a computer to learn. The course is led by Laurence Moroney who heads Google Advocacy for AI and is part of the Google Research Into Machine Intelligence team. According to edX, nearly 12,000 people are enrolled in the free online course.

Harvard University - Introduction to Artificial Intelligence using Python

If you are one of the 5.7 million people who have taken Harvard University CS50 introduction to computer science through edX then the university's introductory AI course might be for you. CS50 is a prerequisite to Harvard's introduction to artificial intelligence with Python class.

This course is a seven-week course that covers AI algorithms, gaming engines, handwriting recognition and machine translation. The course includes lectures and hands-on activities. Students must commit between 10 to 30 hours per week. The course is taught by David J. Malan, a Harvard professor and renowned computer scientist.

IBM AI Foundations for Everyone

IBM, a leader in new technologies, offers AI foundations for everyone's specialization via Coursera. The specialization consists of three courses -

  • Introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
  • IBM Watson - Getting Started With AI
  • Build AI-powered chatbots without Programming

It takes approximately three months to finish the entire specialization, assuming that you devote two hours per week for coursework. Students will be taught the fundamentals of AI, its applications, and ethical issues. Experts will also share their advice on how to start a career in AI. The program is led by IBM Skills Network employees Rav Ahuja, and Antonio Cangiano. Participants receive a certificate of completion.

University of Texas, Great learning AI Program

Great Learning offers AI courses for graduates and professionals, featuring a comprehensive curriculum aligned with industry needs. The AI and Machine Learning Course focuses on the latest trends and real-world applications. The Applied Data Science with Python course builds foundational skills through practical assignments. Robust career support includes placement assistance and interview prep. Graduates succeed in roles like data scientists and AI engineers, making these programs a valuable investment.

University of California, Davis - Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Ethics

The University of California Davis, as part of its Computational Social Science specialty through Coursera offers a course on AI, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Ethics. This four-week course teaches participants about the limitations of big data, the history and ethics of research, and how artificial intelligence works. The self-paced course will take you 12 hours total to complete.

Martin Hilbert is the instructor of this course. He is a professor and chair in computational social sciences at UC Davis. Participants are taught AI concepts through case studies. This course has been completed by more than 31,000 people. Participants who complete the course receive a certificate which can be posted on LinkedIn.

The University of Pennsylvania - AI for Business

The University of Pennsylvania has a series of courses on artificial intelligence for those who are interested in breaking into AI, or want to learn more about its applications to different industries. The AI for Business specialty includes four courses.

The beginner courses are completed in four months and culminate with an applied learning project. Participants complete peer-reviewed assignments to demonstrate what they have learned about data analytics tools, machine learning, and people management. Eight UPenn faculty members from the Wharton School and other university professors teach the specialization. Students can earn a Certificate that they can display on their LinkedIn profile. The courses are available through the online education platform Coursera.
